Landmannalaugar, with the active volcano Hekla in its neighborhood, is one of Iceland's most unique destinations and a must for all those who love to explore the great outdoors. This is one of the most active geothermal areas flanked by rhyolite mountains and steaming hot springs offering plenty of activities and hiking trails. A multicolored mixture of black lava, green moss, red iron, blue & green mountains of ryolite and sulphur and much more forms a perfect setting for a great day of hiking.
You will be picked up in Reykjavik by a 4*4 highland bus and from there we head south. As we arrive in Landmannalaugar, we lace up our hiking boots and set off on a 4-hour hike (approx. 9 km) through the strangely sprawling lava fields of Laugahraun, Vondugil canyon and up to the summit of the most colorful mountain of Brennisteinsalda, with its steaming vents and sulfur deposits. Then continuing down through Graenagil canyon, which got carved as a result of the geodynamic activity of mountains, volcanoes and glacial rivers. If time and weather conditions allow we will climb Blahnukur, an approximately 60.000 years old volcano with a panoramic view of the Landmannalaugar Valley.
Elevation gain is about 4-500 m going to about 890 m above sea level. Before our journey ends we will culminate with a relaxing soak in a natural hot spring, where both hot and cold water flows out from beneath Laugahraun mixing together and forming the ideal hot bath. Remember to bring your swimwear and towel to enjoy bathing in the natural hot spring while enjoying the amazing surroundings.
Truly an experience you won't want to miss out on!

"Landmannalaugar Hiking Day Tour"5
A truly wonderful experience while walking on a volcanic landscape.Trek Iceland is a really well organized outfit from my perspective; the day ran smoothly with Max as our terrific guide, always open to questions, picture taking opportunities and keeping everyone on schedule. A memorable day and I would repeat the adventure without hesitation!
"Day tour to Landmannalaugar"5
I did the day tour Trek at Landmannalaugar and it was simply breathtaking. This was my first time trekking and our tour guide, Martin, was fantastic; he was very knowledgeable about the area and I'm sure I speak on behalf of the group when I say that he made us feel very safe. Walking through lava fields really makes you feel quite insignificant, and just a tiny part of nature. Iceland is majestic, and this was definitely the first of many trips. I urge everyone to go!!
